Divisional Overview

Davey Resource Group (DRG), the consulting division of the Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited, provides a comprehensive range of natural resource, urban forestry consulting and utility consulting services to the commercial, residential, municipal, and governmental markets. In Canada, our local offices expertise and services encompass arboriculture and forestry, right-of-way vegetation management, ecology and wildlife, and asset management.

Position Overview – Consulting Arborist

As a Consulting Arborist you will be called upon to provide your knowledge and experience to provide in-depth consultative services across several different client groups from individual homeowners to Architects, Builders/Construction companies, larger utility clients, and municipalities. The ability to communicate clearly through face to face interactions, report writing and, detailed assessments will be vital towards the success of the incumbent and Davey Resource Group.

This position is located across multiple locations in Ontario.

Job Duties:

• Consulting with clients to provide tree assessments and surveys of varying scope.
• Travel to various locations within a specified region providing consulting services.
• Writing Arborist Reports detailing tree observations and providing recommendations.
• Develop Tree Preservation Plans for construction, utility, and other infrastructure projects.
• Develop urban forestry strategies and Tree Management Plans for owners of tree inventories.
• Create detailed Tree Risk Assessments for clients, dependent on qualifications.
• Conduct or assist with tree inventory collection. Local or inter-provincial travel may be required.
• Complete or supervise non-invasive root exploration when requested by a client or municipality.
• Site monitoring and visits to construction sites to document tree health and provide root pruning.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years Industry experience in arboriculture, forestry, ecology, and/or field biology.
• ISA Certified Arborist.
• Strong Tree Identification skills.
• Valid provincial driver’s license.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and also possess the willingness to learn and progress.
• Adaptability to a varied work schedule and diversity of work assignments.
• Experience with MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.

Additional Desired Qualifications

• TRAQ Certification
• Familiarity with local tree pests and diseases
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Knowledge of the construction and/or utility industry
• Experience with Geographic Information Systems such as ESRI ArcGIS

• Full time. Year-round employment.
