Divisional Overview

We provide utilities, rail and road transport with safe and efficient right of way clearance services. Clients rely on us for timely resource mobilization during severe weather events and proactive planning services, such as system hardening and storm restorations.

Position Overview – Rail Supervisor

This important role will involve, planning and organizing daily crew activities, ensuring the timely completion and submission of all applicable paperwork, assessing crew performance, production monitoring and quality control, ongoing field training and development of employees, as well as leading staff through example. This role will also be responsible for business development and job costing for emergent work with our client.

Two positions available, 1 position to cover Western Canada, 1 position to cover Ontario

Job Duties:

• Safely and efficiently lead a crew in providing arboricultural care for our clients. 
• Directs crew members and equipment as well as planning and executing the assigned work and tasks.
• Manage customer service expectations.
• Prepare sales estimates for emergent work to be completed and submit for review to the Vice President.
• Travel to various sites and meet with clients and operations teams.
• Provides line clearing and tree trimming services for major rail customers.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Provide guidance and work scheduling for daily/weekly/monthly operations.
• Ensure proper maintenance, preparation, and operation of all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more by the crews.
• Responsible to ensure proper job site set up, clean up.
• Maintain Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum 3 years experience in the rail industry or similar industrial experience.
• 3 years of previous supervisor experience, including work planning and execution, employee development and performance assessment.
• Chainsaw experience an asset.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Canadian Rail Operating Rules Certification an asset.
• Industrial pesticide applicator license or equivalent preferred.
• Valid provincial driver’s license. Licensed to drive a 5-ton vehicle and air brake endorsement considered an asset.
• Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress.
