Subsurface watering improves tree health in drought-prone areas or during times of extreme heat or dry soil conditions.
It’s specifically designed to improve soil moisture around your trees and shrubs by an injection probe that distributes water directly into the root zone, hydrating drought-stressed trees.
By placing water below grade, it is more efficiently distributed and less likely to run off or evaporate. This soil injection technique allows water to bypass slow infiltration rates in soils that contain high clay content, making it a viable alternative to surface watering.

Signs of Drought Stress in Trees
Signs of drought (or heat stress) will be the most visible in the foliage. Look for these common symptoms:
- Leaf wilt or leaves that start to curl
- Scorched, gray-tinted leaves
- Leaf loss
- Thinning canopy
- Branches drying out and dying
- Wood-boring insects
- Pine tree discoloration: Pines turn grayish-green color and then turn into rust once dead
What not to do during a drought:
- Water on windy or rainy days
- Over-water
- Adjust sprinklers to not aim at the trunk of trees, which may cause trunk cankers or lead to root-rot diseases
